I am originally from the east side of Michigan. I attended the University of Michigan-Dearborn where I received my B.A. in Psychology and Sociology and minored in women’s studies. In 1994 I attended Wayne State University and received my Masters in Social Work. I was grateful to have experienced two fantastic internships within my program, one at Northville Regional Psychiatric Hospital and the other at HMSA, an employee assistance program providing mental health services. In 1996 when I moved to Grand Rapids I was hired at Forest View Hospital and within my four years there I did case management, group, and individual therapy. Eventually I trained in and became interim director of the Trauma Program. I have worked with eating disorders since 1996, and exclusively since 2000, when I joined the staff at CTED. In therapy I attempt to build on my clients’ strengths and challenge them to reach for wellness. In my spare time I like to spend time with my husband and three young sons.
